Busia Local Government Pays Tribute To The Deceased Former LC5 Chairperson.

Busia district local government on Friday 28th moved a motion in the council to pay tribute to the late former LC5 chairperson Were Patrick Wedakule who passed away on Thursday morning at his home in Mululumbi village, Dabani sub-county.

Were Patrick Wedakule was the LC V Chairperson of Busia district between 2006-2011.

The district vice-chairperson Nabwire Anna Mary while moving a motion in recognition of former chairperson stated that the late was a development oriented leader who rendered good services together with other leaders at that time despite the many challenges they faced.

She added that Mr. Wedakule will be remembered for promoting peace, harmony and unity in the district and for his effective lobbying skills which enabled Busia to get three vital structures at the district headquarters which include the council hall, the planning unit, production and education buildings and also the construction of a medical store.

She also moved a motion proposing to the council to name the production and education building after the late former chairperson in recognition of his great service.

Wandera Micheal Ondulla a former councilor of Masaba sub-county who worked with the deceased described him as a leader who exhibited maturity while exercising his duties.

The Busia district Resident Commissioner Achillah Rex John urged the current leadership to imitate the achievements set by the late while still in office.

Meanwhile, Busia district LC V Chairperson Hon. Mugeni Steven Wasike thanked the late for the tremendous work he did for the district and he said the late will forever be remembered as a pillar of development.

The chairperson also raised a proposal to the district leadership to start recognizing heroes when they are still alive instead of doing it during funerals.

The late Wedakule Patrick will be laid to rest on Saturday 29th-01-2022 in Busia district.
