The round of 64 for the Stanbic Uganda Cup continues on Sunday, January 23, 2022 with three matches.
Ten time winners Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) start their quest for the 11th title with a trip away to the Eastern Uganda border town of Busia to face Busia United at the Madibira Primary school playground.
The KCCA delegate arrived in Busia town on Saturday and had a brief training and stadium inspect before proceeding to Doom Royal Hotel where the team is currently accommodated.
KCCA traveled without four of their star players captain Benjamin Ochan (goalkeeper), right back Innocent Esimu Wafula, midfielder Ashraf Mugume and forward Rogers Mato.
The trio are with the national senior team, Uganda Cranes in Iraq for international build up matches.
Long term injury casualties Geofrey Wasswa, Emmanuel Wasswa and Brian Kayanja also remain side lined.
Perhaps, KCCA still has the quality and ammunition to make things happen as they target the round of 32 berth.
Goalkeepers Derrick Ochan and Ali Mwerusi will be the available options in Benjamin Ochan’s absence.
Others are Arafat Usama, Davis Kasirye, Brian Aheebwa, Musa Ramathan, Abubakar Gift Ali, Ibrahim Juma, Filbert Obenchan, John Revita, Andrew Samson Kigozi, Yassar Mugerwa, Charles Lwanga, Stefano Mazengo Loro, Herbert Achai, Brian Majwega, Dennis Iguma, Elvis Mwanje and Hassan Jurua, all who made the trip to Busia.
It is from this crop of players that Morley Byekwaso and the rest of the technical team will entrust with the Busia United duel.
The other two matches will see a West Nile affair between Paidha United and Onduparaka at the Bar Okoro in Zombo district.
Onduparaka will miss the services of their talismanic captain Mohamed Shaban who is with the Uganda Cranes in Iraq.
Elsewhere, Sempigi commences work at Mbarara City as head coach with an away tie against regional side Six O’clock at the Kizinda playground, Bushenyi.
On Saturday, Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) humbled West Nile side Total 4-0 in Yumbe district at the Geya Primary School playground.
Ibrahim Juma Dada scored twice with team captain Shafik Kuchi Kagimu and Viane Ssekajugo adding a goal apiece.
Meanwhile, Kalongo United ejected Adjumani Town Council after a 1-0 home win at the Kalongo Technical Institute ground in Agago District.
The winner of the Uganda Cup earns the ticket to play at the CAF Confederation Cup.
